Making Her Known
The Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help has inspired devotion for centuries and is honored in countless churches and homes worldwide. When the original Icon arrived at Saint Alphonsus Church in Rome in 1866, devotion to the Blessed Mother depicted in this Icon spread rapidly through the Redemptorists' missionary efforts. This image of Mary is the most recognized worldwide.
Healing Grace
While we may not know the exact origin of the Icon, we do know the rest of the story. . . many miracles have occurred around the world to those who seek Mary in the healing graces of prayer. One such site of prayer and healing in the United States is the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Our Shrine has been in the care of Redemptorists of the Baltimore Province since it first opened in 1870. It began as a modest wooden church and served as a“mission house” for priests traveling to distant locations preaching the Gospel and “making Her known”. A replica Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was installed over the main altar of the church and not long after, cures were reported, attributed to the intercession of Our Lady. At the center of Mission Hill, in Boston, it remains a center for healing graces. Pilgrims from all over the world, the rich and the poor, the powerful and the lowly alike, travel the rough stone path to the church to seek healing and to learn Her humility.

The Society Devoted to Our Mother of Perpetual Help
The mission of The Society Devoted to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is to strengthen in its members the practice of Christian life according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. By following the principle of charity, the Society supplies the fundamental means of providing assistance to the least, the last, and the lost. Members are distinguished by their practice of faith and devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Society members follow the teachings of Saint Alphonsus Liguori and the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists)
“taking the Blessed Virgin Mary as model and helper. For She went on Her pilgrim way in faith, and embraced with Her whole heart the saving will of God. She is dedicated as handmaid of the Lord to the person of Her Son and to His work, and thus served the mystery of Redemption. Indeed, She still serves it, as the perpetual help of God’s people to Christ. Therefore, let us relate to Her as a Mother with all the love and veneration owed Her.” (Chapter II, Article 32)

You and your family will receive a remembrance in our Special Mass on Thursday, June 27, 2024, the Feast Day of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
Enrollment Certificate
You will receive an Enrollment Certificate to remind you of the faithfulness of the Blessed Mother and of the prayers being offered for you and your family at Boston’s Basilica.
Weekly Mass Intention for One Year
You and your family will be enrolled in 52 Masses. Each Mass will be offered by our retired priests on Fridays at noon at San Alfonso Villa Healthcare Center in Florida.
Pastoral Blessing
You will receive a Special Pastoral Blessing from Very Reverend John A. Collins, C.Ss.R. the Provincial Superior of the Redemptorists of the Baltimore Province to remind you that the Mother of Perpetual Help is the source of healing graces and blessings.
Lifted in Prayer
The names you list on the Response Card will be remembered in our prayers. We will petition Our Mother of Perpetual Help for your blessings, conversions, and healings through Her intercession to Her Son.

Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin and my Mother Mary, to You, who are the Mother of my Lord, the Queen of the world,the Advocate, the Hope, and the Refuge of sinners, I have recourse today. I who am the most miserable of all, render You my most humble homage, O great Queen, I thank You for all the graces You have conferred on me until now; particularly for having delivered me from hell, which I have so often deserved.I love You, O most amiable Lady; and for the love which I bear You, I promise to serve You always and to do all in my power to make others love You also. I place in You all my hopes, I confide my salvation to Your care. Accept me for Your servant, and receive me under your mantle, O Mother of Mercy.
